U.S. President Donald Trump said Monday that the United States would declare a “total victory” over Iran within the next two weeks, while highlighting progress in ongoing negotiations with Tehran aimed at reaching a final agreement.
Speaking during a tele-rally held in support of Republican Senator Lindsey Graham’s re-election campaign, Trump said Iran was willing to make major concessions in order to secure a deal with Washington.
“We are in the middle of negotiations, and they want to make a very good deal. They are ready to give us everything, they are ready to give up all nuclear weapons,” Trump stated.
The U.S. president also expressed confidence that Washington was prevailing in its standoff with Iran over Tehran’s nuclear program.
“I think we are winning this battle, but it is over the next two weeks that you will really win it, when we declare total victory,” he said.
Trump further argued that such an outcome would have significant economic implications, particularly for global energy markets.
“It will be a total victory, it will happen very soon, and oil prices will collapse,” he added.
The U.S. president has repeatedly maintained that American military operations have significantly weakened Iran’s military and ballistic capabilities.
Following more than a month of fighting and airstrikes after the launch of Operation Epic Fury on February 28, a ceasefire came into effect on April 8. Since then, Washington and Tehran have continued discussions aimed at reinforcing the truce and achieving a lasting de-escalation of tensions.
