On the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the Enthronement of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM) has issued a commemorative silver coin with a face value of 250 dirhams.
According to a statement by the central bank, the obverse of the commemorative coin features the effigy of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, surrounded by the inscriptions “محمد السادس” and “المملكة المغربية – ⵜⴰⴳⵍⴷⵉⵜ ⵏ ⵍⵎⵖⵔⵉⴱ” in Arabic and Tifinagh, along with the year marking 2026 – 1448.
The reverse side of the coin displays an artistic representation of fireworks in the form of stars, alongside the coat of arms of the Kingdom, the face value written in figures and Arabic letters “250 – مائتان و خمسون درهما”, the number 27 referring to the anniversary being celebrated, as well as the inscription “الذكرى السابعة و العشرون لتربع جلالة الملك على العرش” and its French translation: “27th ANNIVERSARY OF THE ENTHRONEMENT OF HM KING MOHAMMED VI.”
The commemorative coin is made of an alloy composed of 925‰ silver and 75‰ copper. It weighs 28.28 grams and has a diameter of 38.61 millimeters. It features a reeded edge and was produced using a Proof minting technique, known for its high-quality finish and collector appeal.
This special issuance is part of the official celebrations marking Throne Day and highlights Morocco’s numismatic heritage while commemorating a major national occasion.
