The California-Lagos Business and Investment Summit on September 17–18 aims to bring together investors, businesses and creative-industry stakeholders from Nigeria and California.
Lagos is seeking to deepen its economic ties with California through a summit bringing together policymakers, investors, entrepreneurs and representatives of the creative economy. The California-Lagos Business and Investment Summit, scheduled for September 17–18, 2026, will address trade, investment, commercial partnerships and the creative economy. Music, film, entertainment and intellectual property are among the sectors targeted by the initiative.
Lagos has developed a particularly dynamic ecosystem in music and audiovisual production. Cooperation with California is intended to improve access to capital, technology and international markets for Nigerian businesses and creative entrepreneurs.
AFRIMA is contributing to the initiative through a strategic partnership with the summit, reinforcing its cultural and commercial dimensions.
The broader objective is to move beyond cultural relations towards more structured commercial partnerships and investment opportunities. Intellectual property development represents an important lever for increasing the economic value generated by Nigeria’s creative industries, particularly in music, film, digital content and entertainment.
The summit could also facilitate access for African entrepreneurs to U.S. investors and strengthen partnerships in technology, financing, distribution and international market development.
