Royal Air Maroc launches direct Casablanca–Los Angeles route

Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has inaugurated a new direct air route linking Casablanca and Los Angeles, strengthening connectivity between Morocco, Africa and the west coast of the United States.

The first flight on the new route departed from Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport on Sunday, opening a non-stop connection of approximately 12 hours to the Californian metropolis.

According to the national carrier, the launch marks a significant milestone in the expansion of its international network and reinforces Casablanca’s position as a strategic hub connecting Africa, Europe and the Americas.

Quoted in a company statement, Royal Air Maroc Chairman and CEO Hamid Addou said the new route reflects the airline’s ambition to enhance Morocco’s international reach. He also highlighted the symbolic significance of the launch, which comes as Morocco and the United States celebrate 250 years of friendship.

The route will operate three times per week. Flights from Casablanca are scheduled on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, departing at 4:00 a.m. and arriving in Los Angeles at 8:20 a.m. local time. Return flights will leave Los Angeles at 10:20 a.m. and arrive in Casablanca the following day at 5:25 a.m.

The service will be operated using modern wide-body aircraft designed for long-haul travel and equipped with onboard entertainment systems and enhanced passenger comfort.

The launch forms part of Royal Air Maroc’s development plan signed with the Moroccan government in 2023. It aims to meet growing demand for intercontinental travel and serves members of the Moroccan and African diaspora, tourists, business travelers and international visitors.

With the addition of Los Angeles, Royal Air Maroc further strengthens its footprint in North America, where it already operates direct flights to New York, Washington, Miami, Montreal and Toronto.

The new route also reflects the airline’s broader strategy of expanding its international network and enhancing Morocco’s role as a major gateway between continents.
