The Israeli military announced on Wednesday that it had conducted a new wave of large-scale strikes targeting infrastructure, defense installations and missile platforms inside Iranian territory.
In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces said the air force, acting on military intelligence, carried out additional strikes against headquarters linked to the army, police and intelligence services in various areas of Tehran.
According to the same source, fighter jets dropped munitions on dozens of sites belonging to the Basij as well as to Iran’s internal security service.
The strikes also targeted the body responsible for supply and logistics within the Iranian ground forces, in addition to missile launch platforms and defense systems.
In a separate statement, the Israeli military said that an Israeli F-35 Lightning II fighter jet shot down an Iranian Yak-130 aircraft in Iranian airspace, describing it as the first known instance of an F-35 downing an enemy aircraft during a direct engagement.
