Casablanca: Launch of the “Izdihar Green Shift” Program to Accelerate Industrial Decarbonization

The Association of industrial zones of the Sidi Bernoussi prefecture “Izdihar” launched on Wednesday in Casablanca the “Izdihar Green Shift” (IGS) program, an ambitious pilot initiative aimed at accelerating the decarbonization of industrial zones in Morocco while strengthening the competitiveness of companies.

Developed in partnership with Green Wave and supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade as well as the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, the program aligns with the Kingdom’s climate commitments, particularly its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and its low-carbon strategy for 2050.

In a video address, the Minister of Industry and Trade, Riyad Mezzour, highlighted the importance of this initiative within the national industrial and energy transition dynamic. He emphasized the key role of energy efficiency and energy management in reducing costs and improving business performance, calling for the acceleration of decarbonization efforts across the industrial sector.

The President of the Izdihar Association, Adil Farssi, stated that the program is based on an integrated approach combining awareness-raising, training, technical assistance, and the development of collective decarbonization projects. The aim is to turn industrial zones into real platforms for energy transition adapted to business realities.

For his part, the Director General of the Moroccan Agency for Energy Efficiency (AMEE), Mohamed Benyahia, recalled that this initiative is part of regional energy efficiency plans, supporting companies in adopting renewable energy and optimizing industrial processes.

The Director General of the Moroccan Institute for Standardization (IMANOR), Abdelrahim Taibi, highlighted the role of environmental and energy standards in strengthening the credibility of corporate commitments, particularly through certification and carbon footprint verification.

At the end of the meeting, three partnership agreements were signed between the Izdihar Association, AMEE, IMANOR, and Green Wave. These agreements aim to structure the implementation of the program and strengthen cooperation around decarbonization, energy efficiency, and industrial competitiveness.
